With the arrival of winter in Assam one can hear the rhythmic sound of Dheki in every villages.The festival of Magh Bihu also known as Bhogali Bihu is celebrated in high spirits in Assam, and north-eastern states of India. Magh Bihu 2020 falls on January 14-15. The festivity which is also called ‘Maghar Domahi’ sees the end of harvesting season in the month of Magh (January-February) and hence it is known as Magh Bihu . The spirit of Magh Bihu preparation is felt with ladoo and pitha …!!! It’s time for merry making and feasting, after the harvesting season in Assam. Magh Bihu festival starts on the 14th of January. 1st day of the festival is known as Uruka – the night of community feast where family and friends join.Bihu is not only a festival of Assam, it is the identity and pride of the Assamese people.
